Verification of a Critical Bullhead Well Control Operation Using Computational Fluid Dynamics

The critical lessons learned from a live HPHT well control event are shared. It outlines the workflow used to pre-plan the operation using both 1D well control modelling versus the more computationally intensive CFD approach and the differences found in each method. The operation was successfully executed and lessons learned from the field will be shared.
